handmade Gifts for my favorite wild child
inspiration
Every year on my niece’s birthday, I make her a small collection of clothes that reflect her vibrant and free-spirited personality. For her 5th birthday, I decided to create pieces that are focused on her favorite wild animals - lions, tigers and cheetahs. She likes to refer to herself as “cheetah Zita” and is often found crawling on the ground, growling and trying to convince those around her she is in fact a wild cat. It’s very convincing as you can imagine.
design
Each piece was designed and patterned to be versatile and intended to be worn for the next 1-3 years. The adjustable straps and loose silhouettes allow for her to grow into these clothes with ease. The materials were selected to be easily washable and comfortable for whatever adventures come her way.
Each print was sketched, carved into linoleum and mounted on wooden blocks. The designs feature her favorite animals illustrated in a whimsical style while staying true to the traditional block-print style.
